Job summary

The Maryland Department of Human Services (DHS), Family Investment Administration, Office of Benefits Access, seeks a Benefits Access Coordinator to lead language access programs and ensure non-discrimination compliance.

Responsibilities include developing the Language Access Plan, training staff, coordinating interpretation services, and monitoring program outcomes to improve equitable service delivery across DHS.

Qualifications

• Eight years of experience in the administration of a human services program or studies and analyses of programs, procedures, practices and organizations.
• Four years of related experience in administration of a human services program or studies and analyses of programs, procedures, practices and organizations.

Responsibilities

• Language Access Plan (LAP) management: Develops, implements, and updates the LAP to meet state/federal requirements.
• Staff development & technical support: Designs and delivers language access training for staff and serves as primary contact for guidance.
• Systems and communication improvement: Collaborates with MD Benefits, Systems, and program teams to align plain language and access standards.
• Language service coordination: Oversees interpretation and translation services and vendor contracts.
• Community outreach & partnerships: Implements outreach to inform LEP communities and builds partnerships with community organizations.
• Monitoring, evaluation & reporting: Tracks data on language services, compliance, and program outcomes; prepares reports.
