Job summary

Speechify is hiring for a backend-focused role on the Platform team. You will design and own APIs behind payments, subscriptions, auth, and the public TTS API, while making systems faster, cheaper, and harder to break. You will automate repetitive tasks and collaborate across product, mobile, and web to stay ahead of product needs.

The role emphasizes correctness, observability, and scalable design, with a focus on delivering reliable services for 50M+ users in a distributed environment.

Qualifications

• Proven backend experience with TypeScript/Node.js in production systems.
• Experience designing and owning backend APIs and services.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, especially GCP; AWS/Azure a plus.
• Ability to automate and improve systems for reliability at scale.
• Strong emphasis on correctness, observability, and testing.
• Enjoys turning ad-hoc work into repeatable patterns and tools.
• Experience with deploying high-availability applications in containerized environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own the APIs behind payments, subscriptions, auth, consumption tracking, and our public TTS API.
• Improve performance and reliability of existing services.
• Ensure correctness before shipping and implement lasting checks.
• Automate repetitive tasks and expand reusable tooling.
• Turn one-off work into repeatable team-wide solutions.
• Design B2B and enterprise integrations for customers.
• Collaborate with product, mobile, and web to keep backend ahead of product needs.
