Job summary

Air Apps, a remote-first company with 50+ employees worldwide, is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain server-side components powering our portfolio of productivity apps.

You will collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, and other cross-functional teams to deliver robust APIs, microservices, and scalable data stores, while focusing on security, testing, and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• Proficiency in one or more backend languages (e.g., Java, Go, Python, Ruby) and frameworks (Spring Boot, Django, Express.js).
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases; cloud infrastructure and distributed systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Architect and Develop Services: design, implement, and maintain RESTful and GraphQL APIs and microservices.
• Database Management: schema design, query optimization, data modeling, storage, and retrieval.
• System Scalability and Performance: optimize for throughput, latency, and cost.
• Security and Compliance: implement auth, encryption, and data protection practices.
• Testing and Quality Assurance: unit, integration, and end-to-end tests; code reviews.
• Monitoring and Maintenance: logging, monitoring, and incident response for high availability.
