Job summary

Left Field Labs is seeking a freelance Mid/Senior Backend Software Engineer with a strong focus on Python and Go to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems. This remote opportunity is available across the United States and Canada, collaborating with product and design teams to deliver robust solutions.

You will work with Django/Flask, PostgreSQL/MySQL, and cloud platforms, building CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions while mentoring peers and embracing modern backend trends.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of backend software development experience.
• Proficiency in Python with Django or Flask.
• Relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and ORMs.
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Version control with Git; CI/CD experience (GitHub Actions).
• Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills; excellent communication.
• Ability to work independently and own projects from conception to deployment.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and deploy scalable Python backend services and robust SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Build and manage automated CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Google Cloud Build.
• Translate business requirements into technical specs and clean architecture.
• Maintain high code standards with documentation and peer reviews.
• Troubleshoot complex bugs and optimize backend systems for performance and reliability.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote knowledge sharing.
