Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Software Engineer II for the Grid Service team to design, build, and maintain our core data platform powering large-scale work management.

You will work remotely from anywhere in the United States or collaborate with the Bellevue, WA team, contributing to scalable backend services using Kotlin, AWS, and Kubernetes, and delivering robust REST APIs with strong testing and code reviews.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional software development experience
• Proficiency with Kotlin and backend services
• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure or similar
• REST API design and documentation

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable back-end services
• Solve distributed systems challenges on cloud infrastructure
• Develop, document, and support REST APIs
• Participate in code reviews to ensure quality
• Contribute to architectural discussions and technical direction
• Collaborate with engineers and product managers to refine requirements
• Mentor junior engineers on code quality and best practices
• Build partnerships with product management to align technical solutions
• Troubleshoot production systems to improve availability and reliability
• Improve development processes and tooling
