BigCommerce is hiring a Backend Software Engineer II (AI Specialization) to design and implement AI agents across commerce data sources. You’ll work on MCP-connected backends, enabling natural language interactions and automated store-management actions within our control panel.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of backend or full-stack software development, focused on AI/MCP/A2A systems.
• BS or higher degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Strong programming skills in Go.
• Experience with LLMs and building agentic AI applications.
• Understanding of prompt engineering concepts.
• Understanding of RESTful APIs and data integration across systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and iterate on AI agents that interact with data across BigCommerce and partner ecosystems.
• Connect agents to MCP servers to surface capabilities for AI-driven experiences.
• Develop AI assistant features in the BigCommerce control panel for natural language queries.
• Collaborate with designers and NLP experts to deliver intuitive experiences.
• Prototype solutions quickly to validate user stories; contribute to internal tooling.
