Job summary

GovCIO is seeking an experienced Azure Commercial Cloud Engineer to support the VA Data Modernization initiative. The role focuses on designing, provisioning, and automating cloud-based data workspaces with Databricks integrations and Terraform IaC. Fully remote and US-based.

The ideal candidate has deep Azure Cloud expertise, strong leadership, and experience with cloud automation, IAM, and governance to support mission-critical environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus 12 years experience in Information Technology or related field.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Experience leading cloud engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support Azure Commercial cloud services, including compute, networking, storage, identity, and platform services.
• Design, deploy, maintain secure, scalable Azure cloud infrastructure.
• Engineer automated Azure landing zones and provisioning processes for fast onboarding.
• Create cloud workspaces with common tools to reduce onboarding friction.
• Lead migration from on-premises to cloud-based solutions.
• Develop and maintain documentation for network designs, policies, and procedures.
• Automate provisioning for user intake, workspace creation, and data access.
• Lead teams of data engineers, security, and analytics stakeholders for compliant ops.
• Map new users to workspace personas and configurations.
• Build workspaces in PreProd/Prod with Service Principals and access controls.
• Create and manage Databricks catalogs and integrations with VHA Data Lake.
• Develop IaC with Terraform for provisioning Azure resources.
