Job summary

Computer Technologies Consultants (CTC) is seeking an Azure Database Engineer to support the US Department of State in Rosslyn, VA. This hybrid, full-time role will design, implement, and operate Azure-based database solutions with emphasis on automation, IaC, and platform reliability.

The candidate will lead modernization efforts, develop CI/CD pipelines, and collaborate with application teams on data architecture while ensuring compliance with security standards such as FIPS 800-53 and Azure

Qualifications

• 7+ years of SQL Server database engineering experience.
• 3+ years of Azure database platform experience.
• Strong expertise with Azure SQL Managed Instance.
• Experience with Azure Data Factory and SHIR.
• Experience automating database deployments and operational processes.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Bicep or Terraform).
• Experience with Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience implementing database refresh, masking, and data protection solutions.
• Strong understanding of backup, recovery, HA/DR, and database security practices.
• Experience supporting production-critical database environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and Azure SQL Managed Instance environments.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code for database deployment.
• Automate database provisioning, backup, restore, refresh, and migration.
• Design and implement data refresh strategies with masking/obfuscation.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for database deployments using Azure DevOps.
• Design and support data integration solutions using Azure Data Factory and SHIR.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, performance tuning, capacity planning.
• Collaborate with application teams on database architecture and modernization.
• Support reporting and analytics platforms through data synchronization and design.
• Establish governance, security, backup/recovery, and DR standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex DB performance and availability issues.
