Job summary

First Citizens Bank is seeking a hands-on Lead Software Engineer to drive the design, development, integration, and support of secure, cloud-native solutions across Payments, Money Movement, and Information Reporting platforms.

The ideal candidate will lead architecture, mentor teams, and deliver on AWS-based, serverless and containerized implementations with Terraform and CI/CD pipelines, ensuring security and reliability at scale.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on AWS cloud engineering and architecture experience.
• Design, develop, and support cloud-native apps on AWS.
• Expertise with Lambda, ECS, Step Functions, SQS, SNS, S3, DynamoDB, RDS, IAM, KMS.
• Terraform and infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Event-driven, microservices, and serverless architecture experience.
• Hands-on development with Java, Spring Boot, or Node.js; Docker/OpenShift.

Responsibilities

• Lead all software engineering activities including architecture, design, development, testing, releases, and production support.
• Mentor distributed teams and guide technical decisions.
• Drive project estimates, scope, and potential impacts.
• Ensure reliability, security, and operational excellence across platforms.
