Job summary

First Citizens Bank is seeking a Software Engineer II to design, develop, integrate, and support cloud-native solutions across Payments, Money Movement, and Information Reporting platforms. You will leverage AWS services and modern frameworks to build secure, scalable systems.

The role emphasizes hands-on development, production support, and collaboration with architects, engineers, and business stakeholders in a remote setting with location options AZ, NC, or TX.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on AWS cloud engineering and architecture experience.
• Experience designing, developing, and supporting cloud-native applications on AWS.
• Experience with AWS Lambda, Amazon ECS, AWS Step Functions, Amazon SQS/SNS, Amazon S3, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon RDS, AWS IAM and KMS.
• Experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Experience designing event-driven, microservices, and serverless architectures.
• Strong hands-on development with Java, Spring Boot, and/or Node.js.
• Experience with Docker and OpenShift containerization.
• Experience CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment strategies.
• Ability to build highly available, fault-tolerant, secure, scalable enterprise solutions.

Responsibilities

• Experience building applications using AWS services such as Lambda, ECS, Step Functions, SQS, SNS, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, IAM, and KMS, with Java, Spring Boot, and Node.js; Terraform, Docker, OpenShift, and event-driven architectures are desirable.
• Contribute to delivery of critical payments and financial solutions while growing expertise in cloud-native application development and enterprise-scale systems.
