Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an AWS Cloud Ops Engineer to monitor, operate, and support AWS infrastructure across production and non-production environments. You will perform health checks, manage backups and logs, and implement monitoring with CloudWatch and Dynatrace.

You will investigate incidents, support deployments, and ensure smooth on-call operations while coordinating DNS, firewall, and access tasks in a healthcare-focused environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of IT infrastructure, cloud operations, production support, or systems engineering experience with 3+ years AWS operations preferred.
• Experience supporting production AWS workloads, monitoring tools, incident response processes, backup validation, and operational runbooks in Enterprise environments.
• Strong communication, documentation, ownership, troubleshooting, collaboration, and weekend/on-call readiness.
• Hands-on AWS operations across EC2, EBS, RDS, S3, VPC, Route 53 Private Hosted Zones, CloudWatch, SSM, AMIs, IAM/access, and cross-account operations.
• Strong monitoring and observability experience using CloudWatch and Dynatrace with alert investigation and dashboards.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily AWS cloud infrastructure health checks including disk space, SSM agent status, EC2/RDS availability, and readiness checks.
• Configure and enhance monitoring using CloudWatch and Dynatrace with dashboards, alarms, and notifications.
• Investigate monitoring alerts for outages, performance issues, and infrastructure anomalies.
• Configure CloudWatch alerts to notify on-call for critical incidents.
• Manage production EBS snapshots and backup validation for EC2/RDS.
• Manage VPC Flow Logs, EC2 logs, S3 bucket access policies, and cross-account access in the landing zone.
• Troubleshoot outages, network issues, DNS private zones, firewall changes, and access issues.
• Assist with account creation, AMI and S3 sharing, SSL certificate requests, and infrastructure resizing per guidance.
• Execute approved deployment runbooks and communicate weekend service downtime.
• Monitor Subversion repositories and support TriZetto Facets installation and documentation.
