Job summary

Peraton is seeking an AWS Cloud Engineer to join our team, focusing on scalable, secure AWS infrastructure, automation, and reliable data-driven platforms. You will design and implement IaC with Terraform, build CI/CD pipelines in GitLab, and provide production support across multiple environments.

Remote position with on-call rotation, collaboration with data engineers, analysts, and security teams to optimize performance and reliability while adhering to AWS best practices and governance.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain required Public Trust clearance.
• Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience; or Master's and 6+ years; or high school with 12+ years.
• Strong AWS architecture, networking (VPCs), security (IAM, encryption), serverless/microservice architectures, and containerization (ECS, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proficiency with Terraform IaC and GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Hands-on experience monitoring, analyzing SaaS logs.
• Scripting in Python and Bash; Ansible is a plus.
• Strong Git usage and workflows (GitFlow).

Responsibilities

• Design and build AWS cloud infrastructure with IaC and CI/CD pipelines.
• Guide ADTs on cloud patterns, deployment strategies, and architecture decisions; influence design choices.
• Own automation end-to-end; from IaC authorship to pipeline design to production operations.
• Participate in on-call rotation and observability practices.
• Provide technical support for AWS and managed services users.
• Monitor environments, identify performance or availability issues, and troubleshoot incidents.
• Collaborate with development, security, and infrastructure teams to implement cloud solutions and follow AWS best practices.
• Maintain configuration documentation, diagrams and SOPs for all environments.
• Perform backups and routine upgrades during maintenance windows.
• Monitor for security vulnerabilities and perform ad-hoc upgrades as required.
• Support audits by providing logs, reports, and system configurations.
• Manage IAM roles, policies, permissions, and access controls to maintain secure cloud environments.
