Job summary

Berkley Alliance Managers in Connecticut is seeking an AVP, Senior Claims Examiner to manage professionals liability claims and related coverages, including analysis, reserves, reporting and coordination with defense counsel. The role supports marketing, risk management, finance and actuarial teams and involves travel as needed.

The candidate should have a BA/BS, may hold a JD, and possess 8–10 years in claims adjusting with strong MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• BA or BS required.
• JD preferred, but not required.
• Adjuster licenses in all states requiring a license, plus California.
• 8 to 10 years claims-related adjusting experience.
• Experience handling professional liability claims for architects/engineers, miscellaneous PL or construction professional; preferred but not required.
• 3 to 5 years legal, law firm experience; preferred but not required.
• Computer skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Adjusting all aspects of claims and loss notices, including coverage analysis, liability and damages analysis, reserve setting and reporting; reinsurance analysis and reporting and coverage litigation.
• Attend mediations, settlement conferences, trials and other claims-related travel as needed or required.
• Support the marketing, risk management, finance and actuarial departments, including related travel.
• Assist with or conduct large loss and reinsurance reporting.
• Maintain adjuster licenses in all states requiring licenses, or as requested.
• Possible product line oversight.
• Business-related travel as required or needed.
• Assist with marketing and development of risk management materials, as needed.
