Job summary

General Motors seeks an experienced Safety Data Analysis Engineer to support AV operational safety and issue response. You will combine engineering judgment with data skills to investigate events, organize data, and develop evidence for safety decisions.

The role focuses on large-scale data, rapid investigations, and reusable analytics, collaborating with safety, operations, data engineering, and software teams to advance AV safety and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, applied mathematics, or a related physical science.
• 5+ years of experience analyzing large-scale time-series, telemetry, or robotics data including ROS logs.
• Strong Python and SQL skills.
• Experience with time-series analysis, signal processing, or related methods.
• Ability to design ad hoc analyses and build scalable analytics solutions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide data-driven support for AV safety analysis and issue response.
• Organize event-related data and develop evidence for safety decisions.
• Integrate telemetry, time-series signals, and software-release data into analysis-ready datasets.
• Develop reusable analytics, pipelines, and detection methods for investigations.
• Collaborate with safety, operations, and data engineering teams on investigations.
