Job summary

General Motors Company seeks an Engineering Manager to lead a team building software, metrics, and analysis systems for evaluating autonomous driving performance at scale. You will combine strong technical judgment with people leadership to shape GM’s core evaluation platforms and accelerate validated AV deployment.

You will guide analysis algorithms, ensure dashboards for leadership insight, and partner with Autonomy, Simulation, Systems, and Safety to align requirements with product needs.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in robotics/autonomy software and leading technical teams.
• 3+ years evaluating dynamic systems using numerical/ML approaches.
• Proficient Python in production environments, including testing and code review.
• Experience with Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, and data visualization.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineers building autonomy evaluation platforms, metrics, workflows, dashboards, and analysis tooling for simulation and on-road testing.
• Set technical direction for systems that introspect autonomous driving software performance across interfaces and across the autonomy stack.
• Drive design and delivery of analysis algorithms that summarize, aggregate, and cluster metrics from simulation and on-road runs.
• Guide the team in developing ML methods to quantify performance and identify behavior patterns across scenes and domains.
• Oversee evaluation approaches for ML components across perception, prediction, and planning, ensuring explainable, scalable methods.
• Ensure the team delivers clear dashboards and interactive reports for trend analysis, drift detection, and leadership insight.
• Partner with Autonomy, Simulation, Systems, and Safety teams to align evaluation strategy with product needs.
• Help the organization leverage AI techniques to classify autonomy performance and prioritize validation with human-in-the-loop review.
• Maintain high technical standards through design reviews, testing, and observability.
• Translate system-level results into feedback for engineering and leadership and drive high-priority evaluation outcomes.
• Create clarity across priorities, roadmaps, and dependencies in a technically complex domain.
• Balance near-term delivery with long-term platform investments in metrics and tooling.
