Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Automotive Electronics and Systems Technician to join our client’s remote team, supporting diagnostics, installation, and repair of ECUs, infotainment, CAN bus networks, and ADAS across vehicles.

The role emphasizes autonomous work in a home office with occasional travel to Free State or other company locations. You’ll use OBD-II scanners, oscilloscopes, and multimeters to troubleshoot issues and document procedures for continuous improvements.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Automotive Technician with a specialization in electronics and electrical systems.
• Proficiency with advanced automotive diagnostic equipment and software (e.g., OBD-II scanners, oscilloscopes, multimeters).
• Strong understanding of CAN bus protocols, ECU programming, and sensor integration.
• Experience with installing and configuring infotainment systems, navigation, and ADAS features.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivated and disciplined, with the ability to work autonomously in a remote environment.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for remote collaboration and documentation.
• Relevant automotive certifications (e.g., ASE certifications in electronics) are highly desirable.
• A reliable internet connection and a dedicated home office setup.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to Free State or other company locations for specific project needs.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electronic and electrical faults in modern vehicles remotely.
• Perform installations and configurations of new automotive electronic modules and systems.
• Utilize advanced diagnostic software and hardware to interpret vehicle data and identify issues.
• Provide expert technical support and guidance to field technicians or service centers.
• Develop and document repair procedures and best practices for electronic system maintenance.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in automotive electronics, sensor technology, and software updates.
• Research and recommend solutions for recurring electronic problems.
• Manage remote diagnostic tools and ensure their effective operation.
• Maintain accurate records of diagnostic findings, repairs performed, and system configurations.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to provide feedback on system performance and potential improvements.
