Job summary

Placements24 client, a leading automotive solutions provider in Welkom, Free State, seeks an Automotive Diagnostic Engineer to advance ECU diagnostics and system testing. You will analyze DTCs, design tests, and collaborate across software and hardware teams to deliver reliable diagnostics.

The role requires a strong engineering background, experience with CANoe, Python, and C++, and the ability to mentor peers while staying abreast of ADAS and powertrain developments.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Automotive/CS or related field.
Experience in automotive diagnostics or system engineering.
Knowledge of CAN/LIN/Ethernet and UDS/OBD-II.
Proficiency in Python and C++ for data analysis.
Experience with Vector CANoe and data acquisition.
Analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to translate complex data into insights.
Team collaboration and cross-functional communication.
Familiarity with ADAS and powertrain control is beneficial.
Local automotive landscape knowledge in Free State is a plus.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement diagnostic algorithms for ECUs and systems.
Analyze performance data, fault codes, and DTCs to identify root causes.
Design and conduct tests, experiments, and simulations to validate functionality.
Collaborate with software and hardware teams to integrate diagnostics.
Create detailed technical documentation and specifications.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues encountered during testing.
Stay current with AI/ML in diagnostics and connected car tech.
Improve diagnostic tools and methodologies continuously.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
