Job summary

Abbott Laboratories is seeking an Automation Technical Specialist for field-based remote work across the United States. You will provide technical leadership for automation hardware implementations in large clinical laboratories, partnering with customers, field teams, and vendors to deploy solutions and resolve complex issues.

The role requires up to 100% travel and a strong background in automation systems, with ability to lead projects from receipt to verification and training for field

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Engineering, Electronics, Automation Technology, Biomedical Equipment Technology, Technical Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 4 years supporting, servicing, troubleshooting, implementing, or maintaining automation systems or laboratory instrumentation.
  • Experience resolving technical issues in customer-facing environments.
  • Ability to independently execute complex technical projects and travel up to 100%.

Responsibilities

  • Lead onsite automation hardware implementations in large core clinical laboratories.
  • Coordinate implementation projects with customers, project managers, laboratory leadership, local field service teams, contractors, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Resolve complex technical inquiries and provide advanced troubleshooting throughout the implementation lifecycle.
  • Deliver automation product training and technical guidance to field service personnel.
  • Support post-implementation escalations and contribute to new hardware launches.
