Job summary

Caterpillar's Electric Power Division is seeking an Electrical Engineer to deliver automation and control solutions for generator paralleling switchgear systems. You will design, program, and commission control systems for retrofit and new projects from concept to commissioning.

The role requires collaboration with dealers, factories, CAD, and field teams. A BSEE/BSEET or equivalent experience is expected, with travel up to 50% and remote US-based work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET) preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience with automation and controls, including PLC-based systems, HMIs, and distributed control systems.
• Minimum 2 years of related experience with degree, or 4 years of equivalent experience without a degree.

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities, define project scope, and support proposal development with Dealer and Factory teams.
• Execute design, programming, testing, and commissioning of low- and medium-voltage generator paralleling control systems.
• Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
• Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
• Partner with CAD designers to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
• Perform technical risk assessment and support field performance of assigned projects.
• Provide technical support to AES Sales and Product Support Center teams, including escalation support.
• Submit project documentation, reports, and expenses in a timely manner.
• Train and support technicians, customers, and internal teams on maintenance, troubleshooting, and system operation as needed.
