Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our Electric Power Division, delivering automation and control solutions for generator switchgear systems.

You will lead design, programming, testing, and commissioning of control systems, sometimes remotely, with travel up to 50% to support projects and customers. The role requires a BSEE/BSEET or related experience, strong knowledge of PLC/HMI, and ability to read electrical schematics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred or equivalent experience.
• Experience with PLC/automation and control systems.
• Reading electrical schematics and blueprints required.

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities and define project scope with Dealer and Factory teams.
• Execute design, programming, testing, and commissioning of LV/MV control systems.
• Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
• Develop PLC and HMI apps using standard templates.
• Collaborate with CAD designers for wiring and assembly drawings.
• Perform risk assessment and support field performance of projects.
• Prepare project documentation, reports, and expenses timely.
• Train technicians and customers on maintenance and operation as needed.
