Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC is seeking an Automated Test Engineer (ATE) for a 100% remote U.S.-based role. You will develop and execute comprehensive test plans, write test scripts, and lead defect resolution across web apps, APIs, and IT systems, ensuring quality deliverables in a regulated VA environment.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in software testing, strong programming skills (C#, Java, Python), and hands-on experience with Selenium, JMeter, and CI/CD.

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in C#, Java, or Python.
• Proven track record on complex software projects and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
• Experience in both manual and automated testing.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and understanding of SDLC.
• Proficiency in writing and executing test cases, test scripts, and test plans.
• Knowledge of test automation frameworks and tools (Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, QTP, LoadRunner).
• Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions).
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git, Subversion).
• Understanding of performance testing tools (JMeter, Gatling).
• Experience with defect tracking (JIRA, Bugzilla).
• Knowledge of database/SQL for validating data.
• Experience in testing web apps, APIs, and services.
• Understanding of security testing practices/tools.
• Experience with functional, regression, integration, system, usability, and UAT testing.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test procedures to meet standards and end-user requirements.
• Develop test plans, test schedule, and approach.
• Write test cases and scripts; identify data for test scenarios.
• Conduct walkthroughs with Test Managers, Requirement Leads, Project Managers, and Development Leads.
• Perform and lead tests on IT systems to ensure proper operation and defect-free results.
• Perform verification activities on work products using defined methods and criteria.
• Document and communicate test results; support analysis of results and issue resolution.
• Document and work to resolve complex problems; report progress to management.
• Devise improvements to procedures and develop models for future configurations.
• Create daily test metrics and reporting; perform other IT systems engineering activities as needed.
• Apply technical principles and establish goals to meet objectives; provide direction to staff.
• Measure whether objectives are met; ensure solutions are imaginative, thorough, and practical.
