Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC seeks an experienced Automated Test Engineer (ATE) for a 100% U.S.-based remote role with the Veterans Affairs department. Candidates should have 10+ years in software testing, across functional, regression, integration, and security testing, with strong automation, CI/CD, and cloud experience.

Requirements include a public trust security clearance, US citizenship, and Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in C#, Java, or Python.
• Experience in both manual and automated testing.
• Experienced with Agile/Scrum and SDLC concepts.
• Proficient in writing and executing test cases, scripts, and plans.
• Familiar with test automation frameworks and tools such as Selenium, TestNG, JUnit.
• Experience with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions.
• Familiarity with Git and Subversion.
• Knowledge of performance testing tools (JMeter, Gatling).
• Experience with defect tracking (JIRA, Bugzilla).
• Knowledge of SQL for validating data.
• Experience testing web apps, APIs, and services.
• Understanding of security testing practices.
• Experience with functional, regression, integration, system, usability, and UAT testing.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, cases, and procedures.
• Develop test schedule and approach.
• Write test cases and scripts; identify test data.
• Lead walkthroughs with stakeholders for test cases/scripts.
• Perform tests to ensure defects are minimized.
• Verify work products with defined methods and environment.
• Document and communicate test results.
• Support analysis of test results and issue resolution.
• Create daily test metrics and reporting.
• Occasionally perform other IT systems engineering activities.
• Provide technical solutions to difficult problems.
• Review work to ensure objectives are met.
• Mentor junior testers and guide team.
