Job summary

Auto-Owners Insurance seeks a motivated claims trainee to join our team. After initial in-person training, this role could have the flexibility to work from home up to 3 days per week.

You will investigate, evaluate, and settle entry-level claims, study policies, and learn company procedures to build skills in negotiation and settlement. You will support agents, insureds, and others, communicating with claimants and legal counsel while aiming for accurate, timely resolutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or direct equivalent experience with property/casualty claims handling.
• Strong data organization and independent decision-making abilities.
• Above average written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to write reports and compose correspondence.
• Ability to resolve complex issues and maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to work with diverse groups and develop product knowledge.
• Valid driver license and driving record aligned with underwriting guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, evaluate, and settle entry-level insurance claims.
• Study policies, endorsements, and forms to understand products.
• Learn and comply with company claim handling procedures.
• Develop entry-level claim negotiation and settlement skills.
• Serve agents, insureds, and others to ensure timely resolutions.
• Meet claimants, legal counsel, and third parties as needed.
• Study and maintain adjuster licenses where required.
