Job summary

Practical Inspiration Publishing is hiring a part-time, fully remote role to support authors across the publishing journey. You’ll work effectively in a remote team, communicating clearly and paying meticulous attention to detail.

Reporting to the Director, you’ll onboard authors, answer day-to-day questions, manage author-facing systems, coordinate with editorial/marketing, and prepare newsletters and royalty statements. UK-based, flexible hours and pro-rated salary apply.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a book publishing environment (e.g. editorial, production, marketing or author relations).
• Proven ability to work autonomously and stay organized using remote collaboration tools (e.g. Slack, Teams, Sharepoint).
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Calm, focused and reassuring under deadlines with meticulous attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Meet authors soon after contract signature to welcome them and explain publishing processes, timelines and systems.
• Ensure onboarding progresses smoothly by following up author forms and responding to queries.
• Answer day-to-day author questions promptly, in liaison with the team.
• Manage FAQs and author-facing systems such as the author website area, Slack, LinkedIn group and WhatsApp community.
• Coordinate weekly author pod calls and help plan author events such as Author Day in the UK.
• Create training materials for authors on the elearning platform as required.
• Ensure authors’ news (awards, press coverage) is shared with marketing and sales and added to website/newsletters.
• Coordinate with editorial, design, production and marketing to keep authors informed and ensure timely feedback.
• Coordinate with printers and warehouses to keep authors updated with bulk order tracking.
• Collect and organize author assets (bios, headshots, back-cover copy inputs).
• Keep authors’ details up to date on our systems.
• Follow up at regular touchpoints with authors post-publication.
• Prepare quarterly author newsletter and royalty statement emails.
