Job summary

InvestigateWest is seeking an Audience Engagement Manager to strengthen ties with readers across three states and to lead web and social distribution for our investigations. You will drive audience growth, develop explainers and short videos, and create accessible content for diverse communities while expanding partnerships with other newsrooms.

The role combines editorial judgment with data-driven decision making and collaboration with newsroom leaders to build a sustainable member-based model

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in audience engagement, newsletter strategy or community-centered storytelling.
• Strong writing/editing skills with fair and accurate journalism.
• Comfort using analytics to drive decisions (GA4 and email/social analytics preferred).
• Experience building partnerships and running community events or programming.
• Collaborative working style with ability to manage multiple projects with clear priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead our newsletter program and oversee social media, SEO, and distribution for major investigations.
• Collaborate with editors and reporters on publication and distribution strategies to maximize reach.
• Monitor web, newsletter, and social performance and track impact beyond reach.
• Serve as a liaison between newsroom, readers, and community partners; engage with community groups.
