Job summary

Computational Physics, Inc. is seeking a Full-Time Scientist-Research to support Navy weather model development remotely at NRL. You will run emergent atmosphere models on HPCs, analyze outputs, and guide code changes to improve model skill and efficiency.

The role involves continuous integration of new code into the repository, collaborative work with a dispersed team, and delivering quarterly and annual research milestones for NRL and sponsors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in atmospheric science, computational fluid dynamics, physics, applied mathematics, meteorology, aeronomy, or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated skill with MPI Fortran, C++, Java and visualization/analysis tools (Python, IDL, MATLAB). Fortran 2003+ is especially applicable.
  • Experience with running multiprocessor code on HPCs and working with large atmospheric data sets (e.g., HDF5).

Responsibilities

  • Run whole-atmosphere models on Navy HPC centers and analyze outputs.
  • Identify bugs, implement fixes, and test new code via GitHub.
  • Collaborate with a dispersed team to deliver quarterly and annual research milestones.
