Job summary

The American Physical Society is seeking an Associate Editor for Physical Review E (PRE). You would manage all phases of peer review, select referees, evaluate responses, and decide which papers we publish in a remote-first, full-time capacity.

Candidates should have a PhD in statistical physics / nonlinear physics / complex systems and at least one year of postdoctoral experience. Strong English communication, integrity, and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• PhD in a physics-related field with a strong research record.
• Experience or familiarity with peer-review processes beneficial.
• Excellent command of scientific English and writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of peer review for PRE manuscripts, including referee selection and evaluating responses.
• Maintain close contact with PRE editors and editors of APS journals.
• Help select and summarize papers to highlight for the journal.
• Stay updated on current physics research and communicate findings to editors.
• Support post-acceptance processes and ensure editorial quality and timeliness.
