Job summary

American Physical Society in the United States seeks an Associate Editor for Physical Review E to handle all phases of peer review and determine publication decisions. You will work with PRE editors and contribute to editorial initiatives.

Qualifications

  • PhD and postdoctoral experience in one or more of: statistical physics, nonlinear physics, complex systems, biological physics, soft matter, fluids, plasma, computational physics.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of peer review for a suite of manuscripts, including selecting referees and evaluating responses.
  • Maintain close contact with PRE editors and other APS journals.
  • Summarize papers to highlight and monitor current physics research across the portfolio.
  • Support manuscript post-acceptance processes and resolve production issues.
  • Perform editorial checks to ensure quality and timeliness of papers.
  • Maintain high ethical standards and fairness at all editorial stages.
  • Gain mastery of the peer-review system.
  • Represent the journals at scientific conferences and engage with a broad network of researchers.
  • Contribute to journal-level projects and strategy, including content commissioning and analytics.
  • Contribute to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
