Job summary

Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health seeks an Associate Director of Finance to lead financial and grants management within Sponsored Programs Administration.

You will supervise a team, oversee pre- and post-award activities, and ensure compliance with sponsor policies while aligning with school priorities. This role partners with senior leadership to shape budgets, financial planning, and strategy across non-sponsored accounts, endowments, and gifts, leveraging Harvard systems and strong

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
• Minimum of 7 years’ relevant work experience.
• Advanced knowledge of sponsored research regulations.
• Supervisory experience.
• MBA or Masters’ degree in relevant field preferred.
• CRA certification preferred.
• Knowledge of Harvard systems (GMAS, HART, Buy2Pay, Concur) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervising and training research and financial administrators; providing daily guidance
• Overseeing pre- and post-award management for a large portfolio of sponsored research grants and subcontracts
• Developing and implementing departmental policies and processes
• Ensuring research administration compliance with sponsor guidelines and Harvard policies
• Ensuring departmental financial transactions are compliant with Harvard and sponsor policies
• Preparing annual Department budget and collaborating with senior leadership
• Overseeing non-sponsored accounts (endowments, gifts, start-up funding, cost recovery)
• Performing other duties as assigned
