Job summary

SAIF seeks an associate actuary to support Oregon workers’ compensation with ACAS credential, strong actuarial experience, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. You will influence pricing, reserves, forecasting, and regulatory reporting while partnering with executives and stakeholders across SAIF.

The role offers remote flexibility with occasional travel to Salem and a focus on data-driven decision making. A bachelor’s degree is required, with continued CAS progress preferred.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of actuarial experience, including at least one year of workers’ compensation experience.
• A bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, economics, finance, or a related field and membership in the Casualty Actuarial Society.
• Continued progress towards or maintenance of membership in the Casualty Actuarial Society in accordance with SAIF’s guidelines.
• Other combinations of skills and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Identify and solve complex problems affecting business direction by leading actuarial work.
• Develop loss and loss adjustment expense reserves.
• Prepare inputs to annual and quarterly financial statements and participate in regulatory audits.
• Develop and file sound rate recommendations and support underwriting on pricing guidelines.
• Maintain SAIF’s financial forecasts, dividend models, and surplus analyses; contribute to ORSA.
