Job summary

The State of Colorado, Department of Education, School for the Blind seeks an experienced ECC instructor to deliver assistive technology and compensatory instruction to students with visual impairments. You will align lessons with Colorado standards and assess progress in a supportive learning environment.

You will collaborate with school teams, develop IEP-aligned plans, and advocate for learners while supporting ASL proficiency development and professional growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education; Visual Impairment specialization required.
  • Colorado educator licensure with endorsement as Special Education Specialist: Visually Impaired (or comparable).
  • CATIS certification required or eligible for certification.
  • Experience with visually impaired students and/or multiple disabilities.
  • Braille competency within the first instructional semester.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ECC and assistive technology instruction to elementary, middle, and high school students.
  • Develop lesson plans aligned with IEPs and school initiatives.
  • Deliver assistive technology instruction and conduct technology evaluations for assigned students.
  • Collaborate with co‑teaching teams and multidisciplinary educational teams.
  • Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of individualized student objectives.
  • Serve as a student advocate for assigned learners.
  • Provide accessibility guidance and evaluate instructional software/tools for accessibility compliance.
