Bionews is hiring a part-time assistant editor in a fully remote capacity. This entry-level position focuses on editorial project coordination, editing support, and workflow management across healthcare communications.

You will collaborate with freelance writers, editors, and medical reviewers, tracking deadlines, updating Jira, and formatting pages in WordPress. Training is provided for Jira/WordPress and related tools.

Qualifications

• Organized and detail-oriented candidate with strong communication skills.
• Familiarity with Google Workspace preferred; training provided for Jira/WordPress.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate assignments for freelance writers, editors, and medical reviewers.
• Track deadlines and follow up on outstanding work.
• Enter and update project information in Jira.
• Ensure articles move through the editorial workflow.
• Reach out to physicians about medical review opportunities.
• Lightly edit pages after medical review and final check before copy editing.
• Build and format pages in WordPress.
• Update project trackers in Google Sheets, Drive, Docs.
• Organize payment information and contributor paperwork.
• Assist with additional editorial/administrative tasks.
