Job summary

AORN is seeking a Managing Editor and Team Lead to steer the AORN Journal’s editorial strategy, production, and day-to-day operations. You will guide a talented team and collaborate with the Editor-in-Chief, publisher, and internal partners to deliver accurate, timely content for perioperative professionals.

Remote role with headquarters in Denver, CO. You’ll shape content, manage workflows, and drive editorial quality across features, columns, and Periop Briefing while maintaining strong

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Publishing, or related field is required.
• Minimum 6 years publishing experience with demonstrated editing and writing skills.
• 1+ years of experience leading or managing a team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Journal editorial strategy, production, and day-to-day operations.
• Lead and mentor the Journal editorial team and coordinate with editors and publisher.
• Create annual editorial calendars and manage content workflows and schedules.
• Plan web assets, Periop Briefing content, and cover images.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders and manage contracts for freelancers.
• Oversee pre/post-conference content coverage and issue proofs.
