Job summary

Topstep is seeking an Assistant Controller in Chicago to lead the accounting team and partner with the Controller to translate policy into day-to-day processes. You will own the general ledger integrity, revenue accounting accuracy, and the month-end close across multiple entities.

The role requires strong technical accounting skills, hands-on leadership, and the ability to manage high-volume data while ensuring audit readiness and scalable reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• CPA designation preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Directly manage and develop the accounting team, including workload prioritization and review across both functions.
• Own execution of the month-end close calendar, including reconciliations and journal entries.
• Oversee revenue recognition and payout accounting with ASC 606 guidance.
• Support the Controller in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Partner with the Controller to design and strengthen internal controls and accounting policies.
