Job summary

SEH is seeking an Assistant Controller to join our Finance/Accounting team in a remote role open to most US states. You’ll lead accounting operations, support audits, and collaborate with leadership on financial strategy.

Ideal candidates hold a CPA and a Bachelor's in accounting, with end‑to‑end accounting, treasury, and ERP experience. SEH, an employee‑owned firm, offers growth, strong controls, and flexible work arrangements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
• CPA certification (active or inactive) is preferred.
• Experience as Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller or Controller.
• Experience with annual financial statement audits.
• End-to-end accounting operations expertise (AP, AR, treasury, close, reporting, contracts).
• Strong knowledge of GAAP.
• Proven ability to manage and develop accounting teams.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel; ability to leverage systems to improve processes.
• Strong analytical, communication, and cross functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting operations, including monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Evaluate emerging accounting standards and regulatory changes; advise leadership on impacts.
• Maintain relationships with external auditors to support audits and controls.
• Manage treasury activities including cash positioning, forecasting, and bank relationships.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and accounting policies.
• Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and variance analyses.
• Collaborate with operations and leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and cost management.
• Lead, develop, and mentor accounting staff.
• Partner with Controller on financial strategy and process improvements.
