Job summary

SEH is an employee-owned engineering, architectural, planning, and environmental firm seeking an Assistant Controller to lead accounting operations and support the annual audit. This remote role partners with the Controller and senior leadership on financial strategy and continuous improvement initiatives.

You will manage monthly closes, treasury, and financial reporting while ensuring GAAP compliance and strong internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
• CPA, Active or Inactive is required.
• Experience as Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller or Controller.
• Experience with annual financial statement audits.
• Broad end-to-end accounting operations experience including AP, AR, treasury, audits, close, reporting, and contract review.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP.
• Experience leading accounting teams.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and Excel; improve processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting operations including monthly, quarterly, and annual close.
• Evaluate accounting standards and regulatory changes; advise leadership.
• Coordinate with external auditors for audits and controls improvements.
• Manage treasury activities: daily cash, forecasting, bank relationships, covenants.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and internal controls.
• Prepare and review financial statements and variance analyses.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost management with operations.
• Lead, develop, and mentor accounting staff.
• Collaborate with Controller on strategy and process improvements.
• Remote role open to most US states; relocation optional.
