Job summary

AMG & Associates, Inc. is seeking an experienced Processing Archivist for a full-time contract.

You will support the organization, arrangement, description, preservation, and accessibility of archival collections and historical records, working with archivists, librarians, and researchers. Responsibilities include creating finding aids, inventories, and metadata, applying standards, and coordinating with internal teams to ensure access and research needs are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
• 3+ years of professional archival processing or records management experience.
• Understanding of archival arrangement, description, preservation, and cataloging.
• Experience creating finding aids, inventories, catalogs, and metadata.
• Familiarity with digitization workflows and preservation procedures.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess, organize, describe, and preserve archival collections and records.
• Process materials from accessioning through storage and finding aids.
• Develop inventories, catalogs, and descriptive metadata.
• Apply archival standards to ensure consistent organization and documentation.
• Identify preservation needs and proper storage conditions.
• Maintain collection records, access restrictions, and preservation actions.
• Support digitization by preparing materials and verifying metadata.
• Maintain archival databases and collection management systems.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to support access and research needs.
• Assist with acquisition, accessioning, transfer, and management of new collections.
• Ensure compliance with institutional policies and preservation guidelines.
