Job summary

Zillow is seeking analytical and detail-oriented students for a 9-week summer internship based in Seattle, running June 14 through August 13. Interns work with forecasting, economics, data science, and visualization teams to build forecasts and actionable insights.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Masters or PhD in statistics, economics, data science, or related quantitative field, with expected graduation between Dec 2027 and Summer 2028.
• Strong foundation in probability, statistics, and regression analysis, with exposure to econometrics (time-series and causal analysis).
• Ability to use Python or similar to prepare data, conduct analysis, and build models, with clear communication of statistical concepts.
• Comfort explaining findings to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
• Interest in applying quantitative methods to housing markets, forecasting, and financial decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Translate open-ended business questions into an analytical plan with clear deliverables that impact revenue.
• Explore, clean, and validate housing, economic, business, or financial data and document assumptions.
• Build and compare models to support prediction and forecasting.
• Transform observational data into causal models using identification strategies.
• Design experiments to inform pricing and operational decisions across businesses.
• Evaluate models with baselines and time-based validation, communicating uncertainty and trade-offs.
• Investigate trends and drivers of performance to develop actionable insights.
• Create reproducible analyses, visualizations, or reports for partners to use findings.
• Present approach and results to technical and nontechnical audiences and document for handoff.
