Job summary

IEM is seeking an Applications Engineer to support sales and design teams, focusing on three‑phase power, automation, and communications within low and medium voltage switchgear. You’ll apply high‑level engineering concepts to craft custom solutions for our clients.

Ideal candidates have a BSEE, at least 3 years in design, applications, or field service for power products, and hands‑on experience with AutoCAD, PLC/HMI, and protection coordination, plus strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years in design, applications, or field service for power products.
• Experience reading mechanical assembly drawings and knowledge of NEC/IEEE standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre‑order engineering support, including preliminary drawings, communication diagrams, sequences of operation, and bills of materials.
• Collaborate with design engineering, mechanical, and production teams to develop innovative solutions for unique applications.
• Review customer plans, specifications, and scope of work to ensure alignment with product offerings and completeness before hand‑off to design engineering.
• Offer technical input to product development teams regarding new products or enhancements to existing ones.
• Assist in building a library of standard design details, tools, and CAD resources for repeatable applications.
• Deliver technical training on IEM products and applications to internal teams and clients.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (NEC, UL, IEEE) during product and order evaluations.
• Provide ongoing technical consultation to internal sales and engineering teams.
