Job summary

AAPC is seeking skilled medical coders in Wisconsin to perform complex professional fee coding for physician services in office and hospital settings. Remote-friendly role requiring CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10-CM/PCS proficiency, and adherence to CMS guidelines.

Entry-level facility coding tasks available; for proficient roles, 3–5 years of multi-specialty experience and Epic familiarity are preferred. This position emphasizes accuracy, productivity, and collaboration with the coding team.

Qualifications

• Active coding certification from AAPC or AHIMA (dual certifications preferred).
• High School Diploma or equivalent; completion of accredited medical coding or HIM program.
• Entry-level facility coding experience; 3–5 years for proficient roles; Epic experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform complex professional fee coding (CPT/HCPCS/ICD-10-CM) for physician services in office and hospital settings.
• Perform entry-level facility coding for simple outpatient encounters and basic inpatient services using ICD-10-CM/PCS.
• Ensure coding adheres to official guidelines (AAPC/AHIMA, CMS) and organizational standards.
• Identify need for clinical queries for documentation clarification.
• Maintain high accuracy and productivity for the assigned workload.
• May provide informal guidance to new coding staff on professional coding nuances.
