Tailscale is hiring an Analytics Engineer to bring clarity to complex data environments and lay the foundation for scalable analytics. You will design reliable data models that support reporting, analysis, and decision-making, collaborating with stakeholders across the company.

In this hands-on role, you’ll tackle manual processes and create scalable solutions that reduce operational friction, enabling fast, data-driven decisions for product, engineering, and finance teams.

Qualifications

• Strong SQL skills and confidence working with complex datasets and schemas.
• Deep understanding of modern data modeling principles and best practices.
• Experience designing and maintaining production-grade data models and pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Dive into complex systems and manual workflows to understand tools and constraints.
• Design and maintain clean, scalable, production-grade dbt models (e.g., ARR, revenue recognition).
• Work across the full data pipeline, from ingestion to transformation to visualization.
• Balance quick fixes with thoughtful long-term design.
• Collaborate with Finance, Engineering, Sales, and other teams to meet data needs.
