Job summary

Appen Limited is seeking a Transcription Specialist to support AI-powered speech recognition. You will review audio files, transcribe spoken content with high accuracy, and refine transcripts to produce high-quality data for language models.

Responsibilities include transcribing audio, capturing fillers, adding timestamps, identifying speakers, and marking non-speech events. A strong eye for detail, good English reading skills, and prior transcription experience are required.

Qualifications

• Excellent knowledge of Amharic spelling conventions.
• Fluent in Ethiopian dialect with strong English reading skills.
• Stable internet connection and a PC/laptop or iPad.
• Prior transcription experience and experience with audio data.

Responsibilities

• Transcribe audio recordings into text with high accuracy.
• Capture speech exactly as spoken, including pauses and fillers.
• Add timestamps to match the audio.
• Identify and label different speakers in conversations.
• Mark non-speech events such as laughter or background noise.
