Job summary

Pafford Medical Services in Oklahoma City is seeking an experienced Remote Ambulance Coder to review ambulance PCRs and translate clinical data into accurate billing codes.

This role requires knowledge of ICD-10-CM, HCPCS for ambulance services, and payer requirements across Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers. You will ensure compliance and support revenue cycle operations.

Collaborate with Coding Supervisor and Billing staff to maintain productivity while upholding high coding accuracy.

Qualifications

• Proficient in ICD-10-CM and HCPCS coding for ambulance services.
• Ability to interpret EMS PCRs and determine primary transport reason.
• Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid/ commercial payer rules for ambulance coding.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy under productivity benchmarks.

Responsibilities

• Review ambulance patient care reports for completeness and coding accuracy.
• Interpret EMS documentation to identify primary transport reason.
• Determine the appropriate level of service and assign ICD-10-CM codes.
• Assign HCPCS codes for ambulance services (BLS, ALS1/2, SCT).
• Apply Medicare/Medicaid and payer-specific ambulance rules.
• Ensure compliance with CMS, HIPAA, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with billing and clinical teams to resolve coding issues.
