Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical billing and accounts receivable processes.
• Knowledge of Commercial insurance, Medicare and Medicaid billing preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret EOBs, ERAs, payer correspondence, claim status information, and denial codes.
• Understanding of electronic claim submission, corrected claims, appeals, coordination of benefits, and timely filing.

Responsibilities

• Accounts Receivable Follow-Up: Review payer portals and claim status; contact carriers for information; follow up on delays.
• Denials & Rejections: Review Medicaid denials, identify corrective action, submit reconsiderations or appeals.
• Payment & Remittance Review: Review EOB/ERA, identify denials and underpayments, ensure payer adjustments and patient responsibility are correct.
• Patient Responsibility & COB: Determine balance transfer to patient responsibility and coordinate benefits information as needed.
