Job summary

Alpaca is a US-headquartered, globally distributed fintech company delivering AI-driven brokerage infrastructure. We are seeking an AI Security Engineer to own technical security controls for AI usage, including identity for AI agents, guardrails, and security logging.

You will collaborate with AI Enablement, Engineering, DevOps, GRC, and our Security team to embed security into design and operations. The Security Team is 100% distributed and remote.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in security engineering, application security, or cloud security.
• Hands-on experience securing LLM applications, AI agents, or AI developer tools.
• Understanding of AI-specific risks such as prompt injection and data leakage.
• Experience with identity and access controls for services and non-human identities.
• Programming experience in Python or another language.
• Experience with CI/CD security checks and cloud-native deployments.
• Experience with security operations or incident response.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable working cross-functionally and in on-call rotations.
• Experience building AI-assisted security workflows and telemetry.

Responsibilities

• Own AI access controls, secure AI platforms, guardrails, and AI tooling telemetry.
• Define and enforce identity, data handling, and access policies for AI tools.
• Lead design reviews for new AI applications with security requirements.
• Develop AI-powered tooling to support detection, investigation, and response.
• Apply security standards to AI tools and maintain visibility into tool usage.
• Lead AI-specific aspects of security incidents and participate in on-call rotations.
