Job summary

Alpaca is seeking an AI Security Engineer to own technical security controls for AI usage across agents and automations. You’ll establish identity access, guardrails, and security logging, collaborating with AI Enablement, Engineering, DevOps, GRC, and Security. The role is fully remote with a distributed Security Team.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in security roles, hands-on experience securing AI/LLM tools, and strong Python and cloud-security skills. On-call rotation is expected.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in security engineering, application security, or cloud security roles.
• Hands-on experience securing LLM applications, AI agents, or AI developer tools.
• Experience with identity/access controls for services and non-human identities (OAuth, service accounts, secrets).
• Programming experience in Python or another general-purpose language.
• Experience with CI/CD security checks and cloud-native deployments.
• Experience with security operations or incident response.
• Strong written and verbal communication, especially for risk explanations to non-security builders.
• Willing to participate in on-call rotation.
• Experience building AI-assisted workflows for security operations and telemetry for AI systems.

Responsibilities

• Own AI access controls for agents, bots, and automations; define access and auditing.
• Define security requirements for internal AI apps, data handling, secrets, and integrations.
• Design guardrails and security tooling for AI platforms and integrations.
• Review new AI applications for security risks and provide concrete requirements.
• Develop AI-powered tooling to support detection, investigation, and response.
• Ensure security logging and telemetry for AI systems and approved configurations.
• Lead AI-specific aspects of security incidents, such as data exposure.
• Participate in on-call rotation after onboarding and cross-training.
