Job summary

Seneca Resources is seeking an AI Engineer (contract) to build RAG and document-intelligence capabilities on a Databricks-based platform for a high-trust federal environment. This role emphasizes hands-on development, secure, self-hosted LLM serving, and transfer of knowledge to internal teams.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in ML/AI or data systems with demonstrable LLM/RAG delivery, Databricks experience, and strong Python skills.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship and active Top Secret clearance required.
• 8+ years building applied ML/AI or data systems with LLM/RAG delivered by you, not notebook demos.
• Hands-on Databricks experience.
• Document processing at scale: OCR, layout-aware parsing, chunking tradeoffs, poor-quality source handling.
• Local/self-hosted LLM serving in isolated environments (no external API endpoints).
• Structured extraction and grounded generation with source attribution.
• LLM evaluation methodology and what was measured/left out.
• Privacy-preserving synthetic data generation from restricted data with re-identification risk awareness.
• Strong Python skills and government/defense contracting experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop RAG and document-processing pipelines on a cloud-based lakehouse (Databricks).
• Build workflows for LLM-based summarization, information extraction, and source-attributed generation.
• Generate synthetic document corpora for analysis.
• Establish evaluation frameworks for retrieval accuracy, groundedness, and output validation.
• Document processes, package deliverables, and track models with MLflow.
• Collaborate with internal teams to transfer knowledge and enable deployment.
