Harvard University is seeking a Software Developer for the HIDIVE Lab in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at Harvard Medical School to advance AI-enabled biomedical data discovery and visualization. You will help build production software, integrate a natural-language interface for exploring biomedical metadata, and collaborate with researchers, engineers, and designers.

Formación

• Minimum of two years’ post-secondary education or relevant work experience.
• 1–3 years of professional software development experience.
• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, and modern web frameworks.
• Familiarity with REST/GraphQL APIs, CSS, and component-based design patterns.
• Experience with automated testing, version control (GitHub), and collaborative workflows.
• Experience with visualization libraries such as D3.js is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Develop and maintain web-based software for biomedical data discovery and visualization.
• Participate in the software development life cycle across multiple projects.
• Identify and fix bugs, optimize performance across browsers and devices.
• Write tests and documentation; maintain open-source code.
• Contribute to metadata management tools for genomic and bioimaging data.
• Containerize workflows with Docker for portability and reproducibility.
• Deploy, monitor, and maintain cloud-based services for lab software and data portals.
• Collaborate with researchers and domain experts to translate needs into features.
• Contribute to publications and technical reports; document for lay and specialist audiences.
• Stay current with data visualization, AI, and computational data science trends.
• Follow Harvard IT standards, policies, and code of conduct.
