Job summary

The Trevor Project in the United States is seeking an Advocacy Associate to support the Advocacy team and help establish Trevor as a key player in state advocacy. This role coordinates workflows, materials, and partnerships from a remote, fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in public policy, community organizing, non-profit administration, or legal/legislative operations.
• A demonstrable commitment to LGBTQ rights, youth mental health, or crisis intervention advocacy.
• Proven ability to manage multi-stakeholder projects and coordinate large-scale meeting logistics.
• Experience navigating and administering CRM and collaboration tools.

Responsibilities

• System Administration: configure and maintain team databases and tracking tools; train staff, interns, and volunteers; manage inbox and calendar.
• Process Improvement: update team operations manuals and support workflows.
• Budget & Logistics: monitor travel budget and manage logistics for events and meetings.
• Compliance Tracking: maintain tracking systems for lobbying activities.
• Legislative Monitoring: track federal and state legislation and regulatory actions.
• Content Development: draft policy memos, talking points, and educational resources.
• Data Analysis: produce field-specific data for public reports and materials.
• Note Taking and Reporting: attend virtual meetings, take notes, report back findings.
• Program Coordination: help coordinate the Advocacy Intern program.
• Coalition & Partner Support: build relationships with non-profits and partners.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: coordinate with Research, Communications, Development, Marketing.
• Advocacy & CRM Software: hands-on experience with Salesforce, Quorum, Mobile Commons.
• Project Management & Collaboration Tools: Asana, Google Drive, and virtual spaces.
• Policy Writing & Compliance: craft memos and talking points with lobbying tracking.
• Data Analysis & Reporting: translate legislative data into public dashboards and resources.
