Job summary

HCA Healthcare is seeking a Clinical Professional Development Specialty Educator to support the Virginia Clinical Education department. The CPDSE will deliver evidence-based educational programs for nursing, inter-professional and clinical staff across hospitals in the division.

The role emphasizes specialty nursing expertise, onboarding, competency development, and collaboration with the clinical education team to improve patient care and staff skills. Travel up to 75% is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing (required)
• Master's degree in nursing (preferred)
• 2+ years of clinical education experience (required)
• 3+ years of acute care hospital experience (required)
• 3+ years of clinical education, CSC, academia or leadership experience (preferred)
• Current nursing licensure in state of practice (required)
• Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification (required)
• Specialty certification by the American Nurse Credentialing Center (required)
• Ability to travel up to 75% of the time (required)

Responsibilities

• Provides and assists with orientation/onboarding programs to promote employee retention.
• Conducts orientation in a positive learning environment and facilitates competency development.
• Identifies learning needs through on-site review or metrics and develops activities to close gaps.
• Plans educational content delivery to engage learners and drive outcomes.
• Assesses practice gaps and tracks progress against goals.
• Collaborates with the clinical education team to evaluate and adjust programs.
• Supports lifelong learning and uses a novice-to-expert staff development approach.
• Monitors practice against applicable laws and guidelines and reports KPIs.
